Legal translation

Legal translation is the translation of documents related to the legal field of information exchange between people from different countries. And, since virtually all official papers of individuals and legal entities should be classified as such documents, it can be said that this type of translation is used everywhere on an ongoing basis. It should be remembered that such documents and their translations are used to carry out actions having certain legal consequences (administrative and criminal).

«OpenSpace» Translation Agency is your reliable assistant and expert in legal translation into 45 languages of the world.

TOP-10 documents usually requiring legal translation from the OpenSpace Translation Agency:

  • laws and regulations;
  • powers of attorney of any form;
  • constituent documents to open/close and do business abroad;
  • all kinds of excerpts, certificates, and registries;
  • agreements and contracts of any complexity and orientation;
  • licenses, certificates, conclusions in various areas;
  • documents for inheritance;
  • certificates of acknowledgement;
  • claims, statements, agreements;
  • bank statements, financial reports, etc.

The translation of legal documents also includes the translation of all personal documents of individuals and business entities, since they or their translations are also the documents entailing certain legal consequences. Therefore, the legal translation of every document is special for us. We treat each such order as the one affecting the course of the further events related to our customer. Since we are responsible as much as our customer, before undertaking legal translation, we first find out where and for what purposes it will be used.

There are many nuances and hidden “pitfalls” that the customer should definitely notice. For example:

  • As soon as we find out the language into which the legal translation will be done, we determine whether an Apostille or another type of legalization is needed.
  • The translation without the original document is not valid and does not have any legal force. In any controversial situation, the original is always used, and its legal force prevails over that of a certified translated copy.
  • If a document is submitted in a country having bilateral agreements on recognition of documents with Ukraine, then Apostille and legalization are not required. Such countries include, for example, Poland, Uzbekistan, Moldova, and the Baltic countries.
  • If the document is submitted in a country that does not have bilateral agreements on the recognition of documents with Ukraine, but signed the Hague Convention, then the Apostille shall be affixed by the country issuing such document (a foreign document may not be apostilled in Ukraine). The Hague Convention signatories are mainly EU countries.
  • If the document is submitted in a country that does not have bilateral agreements on the recognition of documents with Ukraine and did not sign the Hague Convention (for example, Canada or the Arab countries), then, in order for the document to have legal force and be translateable, the following formula has been developed:

Legalization at the Ministry of Justice (which issued the document) + Ministry of Foreign Affairs + Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Consulate of Ukraine = OpenSpace Translation Agency performs legal translation.

In any case, all disputes shall be resolved in our office, by phone or e-mail. For us to be able to evaluate your order and determine its fulfillment deadlines, you should provide high-quality scanned copies of documents requiring legal translation. The file format must be jpg, jpeg or pdf with at least 250 dpi resolution. Poor quality files or photos from a mobile phone will not be considered, so save our and your time.

«OpenSpace» Translation Agency takes a responsible approach to its work, so it is important for us that you are absolutely happy with the result.
