Consecutive interpretation is a type of interpretation done during small pauses in the speech of a speaker, lecturer, or conversation participant. It is also called a paragraph-phrasal interpretation, because the foreign speaker is warned in advance that s/he needs to make semantic pauses in his/her speech, the length of which, at a regular speaking pace, is equal to 1 paragraph or 2-3 complex sentences (phrases). It is also important for the interpreter to see the speaker’s emotional pitch at the time of interpretation, since his/her work consists not so much in thorough interpretation of the text “word for word” as in conveying the meaning of what was said to the participants. The interpreter remembers the meaning of a fragment of the uttered text and, if possible, reproduces it in the native language for the audience, while preserving the speaker’s style and manner of speaking.
«OpenSpace» Translation Agency delivers a high-quality consecutive interpretation into English, French, German, Polish, Chinese, and other languages of the world!
We do the consecutive interpretation in Kyiv and other cities of Ukraine skillfully and at a fairly reasonable cost. Our experts in this field possess all required skills to achieve the best result. This is a high speed of speech, good articulation, literacy (knowledge of the literary standards of the source and target languages), stress resistance, patience, adequacy and dispositions of acting, as it is the artistry of the interpreter that helps to “smooth out” all the “sharp corners” of the human factor manifestation in the course of work on both sides. Further, we select a professional who will accurately cope with his/her task, guided not only by the language criterion, but also by the criterion of the topic are close to each individual interpreter.
The most common venues where the consecutive interpretation by the «OpenSpace» Agency is used are as follows:
- business negotiations;
- telephone calls;
- video conversations and video conferences using modern messengers-communicators (Skype, Viber, WhatsApp, Telegram etc.);
- during the “round tables”;
- at briefings and press conferences;
- at presentations and interviews;
- at seminars, trainings, lectures, and forums;
- at receptions and business meetings in an informal setting;
- during excursions and accompaniment of foreign delegations in Ukraine;
According to our observations, the most unpredictable are the meetings without a pre-agreed schedule, in a formal or informal setting. Here, the interpreter has to show all his/her knowledge and skills, since s/he knows neither the mood of the participants, nor the content of the conversation, or the essence of the discussion in advance. Therefore, our interpreters are ready for everything and continuously analyze the meetings that have taken place, so that to “step up” each time, expanding their knowledge and gaining experience to address the eventual mishaps (conflicts). Such an approach provides the highest possible quality of consecutive interpretation at a reasonable price.
Consecutive interpretation may also involve the skills of using special equipment, so we invite you to discuss these and other nuances with us in advance in our office, by phone or email. The more details about the upcoming meeting you will provide to us, the smoother our cooperation will be.
«OpenSpace» Translation Agency takes a professional approach to addressing even the most unexpected situations. This is what we love our work for!
